Code of Practice for Fatigue Management for Commercial Vehicle Drivers

The purpose of this code of practice is to provide practical guidance to industry on requirements in occupational safety and health regulations for driving commercial vehicles. The regulations establish an operating standard for hours of work and rest and other requirements for the management of fatigue for commercial vehicle operators.

Bush Fire Season Alert and Fire Emergency Procedures 

The focus of this SAFETY ALERT is to provide a greater level of awareness regarding the dangers of bushfires and describes the mandatory Safe Working Procedures (SWP) and responsible actions required by schools bus contractors/drivers and the Public Transport Authority (PTA) when they are either informed of or encounter a bushfire that will place bus staff and passengers in immediate danger or disrupt service delivery.

Using Mobile Phones and Visual Display Units Whilst Driving School Buses

The focus of this SAFETY BULLETIN is to remind school bus contractors of the legal and contractual obligations relating to the use of mobile phones and visual display units whilst driving school buses.

School Bus Services have received a number of enquiries from concerned families and members of the public regarding the use of mobile phones by drivers when operating school buses. Unfortunately, the number of these concerns appears to be increasing. As a consequence, the PTA would like to remind all school bus contractors of the legal and contractual obligations relating to the use of mobile phones and visual display units whilst driving school buses.
